Wholemeal Bread (margarine method)

Ingredients
- 1 ½ lbs wholemeal four (strong)
- 4oz strong white flour
- 2 tsp salt
- 1oz fresh yeast
- 1oz lard
- ¾pt warm water
- 1 dessert spoon of syrup
Method
- Mix together flour and salt, rub in lard.
- Mix together water (hand-hot), syrup and yeast. Leave to disperse.
- Make well in centre of flour, add yeast mixture and knead for around 5 minutes in machine until smooth and clear.
- Place in greased bowl , cover and leave until doubled in size.
- Knock back and mould into 3 loaves, place in oiled tins and leave to prove for about 30 minutes.
- Bake for 30 mins at 200C.
