Cheese and Apple Pasties

Ingredients
Pastry
- 8oz Plain Flour
- 2oz Hard Margarine
- 2oz Lard
- 2oz Grated Cheddar
- 8 tsp (approx) Water
- Salt and Pepper
Filling
- 1 large Cooking Apple, peeled and grated
- 2 sticks Celery, finely chopped
- 6oz Cheddar Cheese cut into ΒΌ" cubes
- 1 tbsp Chutney
- Salt and Pepper
Method
- Make pastry as for shortcrust pastry but adding grated cheese and chill.
- Grate apple into a bowl and add celery, cheese cubes and chutney and mix well. Season to taste.
- Roll out pastry and use a saucer to cut out rounds.
- Dampen round the edge of half the circle and place a spoonful of mixture into the centre.
- Draw up edges and seal and crimp.
- Brush with a mixture of egg and water and place on greased baking sheets.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes at Gas6, 400F, 200C or until golden brown.
- Serve hot or cold.
These pasties freeze well.
