Apple & Nut Tea Bread
A delicious loaf with apple, walnuts and raisins - perfect with an afternoon cuppa!

Ingredients
- 8oz Wholewheat Flour
- 2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
- ½ Teaspoon Cinnamon
- 2oz Finely Chopped Walnuts
- 3oz Butter or Margarine
- 5oz Soft Brown Sugar
- 2 Beaten Eggs
- 2 Tablespoons Milk
- 2oz Seedless Raisins
- 1 good-sized Cooking Apple
- 4oz Icing Sugar
- A Little Warm Water
- A Few Walnuts to Decorate
Method
- Sieve together flour, baking powder and spices and add walnuts (add bran from sieve).
- Cream butter and sugar til light and fluffy.
- Beat eggs and milk together
- Add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, alternating with egg.
- Stir in raisins.
- Peel, core and finely dice apple and stir into cake mixture.
- Put in a greased 2lb loaf tin lined with greaseproof paper. Smooth top.
- Bake for 1 hour at Gas4 / 350 elec / 180c until firm to the touch.
- Cool on a wire tray and ice with icing sugar mixed with warm water. Decorate with one or two walnuts.
Will freeze. Serve buttered.
